A win is a win. Did anybody else feel like they were watching a Gene Stallings coached team out there? Lackadaisical offense...and a stout defense and special teams. Well...I say stout special teams - but you can tell we really need Tiffin in there.

There were many play calls that I didn't understand. Not running the ball on first down is the most important. Passing on 3rd and short yardage doens't make sense to me either. Tulane is a team that we should outplay physically not skillfully. You beat-up a team like that for 2 quarters and the big plays happen in the 2nd half. Also, I've never understood calling a sweep to the short side of the field - drives me crazy!! Possibly, we were trying out a few things. I don't know, but we better improve by 2 weeks. # posted by JC : 5:00 PM
Well, I will admit that the coaching staff took out pretty much everything for the offense after we went up 13-0 with the special teams plays.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. The games against Tulane and Western Kentucky are more-or-less just practices where we just try to execute instead of really running with a gameplan. I'll talk more about this tomorrow. # posted by Memphis Tider : 10:36 PM
if you do things like run every first down and third and short, and run every sweep/stretch play to the wide side of the field, even lesser teams will shut you down. # posted by Anonymous : 10:18 AM
