Corso and Herbstreit both picked Bama to win 9 games this year. Kinduva scary thought, but I like the fact that they're both cheering for us now.
UAB got steamrolled on the first drive and are already down 7-0. Not looking good for my pick (UAB to cover the +21.5 spread). Although the offense does look like they're capable of moving the football. As long as the defense picks up, they'll be ok.
The Virginia Tech ceremony this morning was somewhat moving. Gotta feel for them, but at the same time...I'm not sure that the football field is the place to worry about all that. We'll have to hear about it every week until the season's over. I would figure it would be more of a distraction than a rallying tool.
MSNBC.com has an article about how, if Tennessee doesn't contend for the SEC East title, this could be Fulmer's last season up on the hill.
Coach Franchione actually responded to the Tuscaloosa news about his first gameday experience at Alabama. Shula, DuBose, Curry, and Price all declined to comment. Read it here.
EVERYONE in Tuscaloosa is ready to end the hoopla. Read it here.
Chris Walsh tells us how Coach Saban's debut is one of the most anticipated in school history. He goes back to other coaches' debuts, and compares. Interesting article.
Comments:
Well, Fulmer's such a horse's ass that I don't think anyone else in the SEC would be sorry to see him run out of town. I think he's a pretty good coach and they're highly unlikely to do better, but I'd love to see them try.
If 2005 is any meaningful precedent, I think there's a very good chance that UTK loses enough tough early season games that Fulmer just loses that team. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but that is essentially what happened in 2005. # posted by That guy : 9:48 PM
