Why did this holiday have to only be one day? And why couldn't it have been on Thursday, so we'd only have one day left til the weekend. Instead, we got off work on the 4th, and I'm stuck at work for 2 damn days. Oh well.

Apparently the faculty and staff are excited about football season. 4800 ticket requests are going unfulfilled this year - there were 9300 requests and only 4500 allotted for them. The 4500 is the same amount they've had for the last few years.
The SEC will be watching what goes on with the Big Ten Network this fall. They go live on Thursday, August 30th, and will have their first game on Sept. 2nd. The SEC, while interested in starting their own, will wait and see what happens. The Big Ten gets to be the guinnea pig, of sorts, for this project.
The Iron Bowl has been voted the greatest rivalry over at Rivals.com, beating out Fla St / Miami, Texas / Oklahoma, Notre Dame / USC, and even Ohio State / Michigan. They claim it's due to hatred.
