Thursdays are soooo long, man.
Days 'til Season Kickoff: 44

I played Vanderbilt yesterday and won 72-13. Then played Arkansas and won 42-25. Kinda odd games. It would've been a blowout had I not played man coverage for most of the game trying to stop the run. Marcus Monk is a beast.

The Alabama gameday experience has changed a touch this year (first reported by the Tuscaloosa News), with RVers having to pay fees to park on campus, certain former parking spots no longer being public access, and the new 9'x12' big screen tv that will be on the quad for all home games. It will televise all of the home games for people that couldn't get tickets, as well as show other games of interest before and after the game. Check out UAGameday.com for more information about all of this.

The state of Alabama has the most football players at SEC media days. Kinda crazy.

Barrett Jones, an OT from Memphis and the #1 prospect in the state of Tennessee, has visited Alabama several times and really likes Coach Steele and how Coach Saban and his staff interact with the players.

As far as basketball news goes, the Vols and Razorbacks should be the best teams in the SEC this year, or so we're led to believe. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

THE MIKE SHULA ERA

#14: Auburn 28 Alabama 18 Nov. 19th, 2005 in Auburn, AL

Even in Mike Shula's best season, he still couldn't beat Auburn.

This was the game where all the bumper stickers came from. You know, "Honk if you sacked Brodie." This game was pitiful. The offense sucked and consistently gave Auburn the football early in the first quarter. By the time the 1st quarter was over it was 21-0.

Early in the 2nd we finished a drive with a Tim Castille touchdown run which made it 21-7. Then we swapped the ball several times and Auburn scored before going into the half 28-7. By that point, the game was over. Brodie was sacked 7 times in the first half and 5 times in the 2nd before we put in John Parker Wilson.

We basically just got our rear ends handed to us. I still remember Travis Williams saying after the game "We really wanted them to be undefeated coming into this game so we could really make them look bad." And we couldn't say anything about it.

Comments: You read that wrong - the state will have the most players at the SEC media days.
