Getting pretty popular
Man oh man. I'm getting pretty popular over at FireShulaNow. All because I took off the anonymous posting on the site.

REMINDER: This site is only for my thoughts about what's going on at Alabama. If people want to chime in with their two cents, that's cool...but I'm not going to have morons posting random bullshit on the boards. If you want to post, just sign up and post. If it's offensive, inapporpriate, or unrelated to anything that we're discussing, it will be deleted. Problem solved.

This was not meant to be a safe haven for the wackos that get banned from other sites. If you like Petrino, cool. If you think I'm an idiot for putting more into the Spurrier / Stoops rumors than other people, cool. I'm just posting what I like to post.

With that said...today's meeting between Mal and Rodriguez "went well" according to Rodriguez. Please see ESPN's story. Very odd that Rodriguez would come right out and talk about chatting with Mal Moore after he denied ANY interest in the position whatsoever.

If they do, in fact, go after Rodriguez, they need to make sure he brings in a worthy defensive coordinator. West Virginia's defense could have cost them several games this year if it were not for Project Pat and Super Slaton saving the day.

My suggestions for defensive coordinator: Brother Oliver (of course), Randy Shannon, or Coach Kines. Maybe somebody like Vic Koenning would be good. He is currently the defensive coordinator at Clemson. He was the head coach at Wyoming from 2000 - 2002 and was Troy's defensive coordinator under Larry Blakeney in '03 and '04, leading them to top 10 defensive finishes in both seasons, if I'm not mistaken. He's got a good defensive mind, and would have a lot of ties down here.

Comments: I agree with the defense coordinator, on offense I'd like to see Homer Smith come back to college ball, but I asked him on his message board at Homersmith.net and he said he had moved on and wasn't interested in the job at BAMA. Michael Haywood from Texas might have been a good choice, but I read that he's going to Notre Dame.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 7:42 PM   thankyou for taking off the anonymous bs we have been listening to for a week now. love the blog and i find your info very interesting. keep is informed and i will do the same.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:05 PM   Funny you should say Shannon that flight EJA967 flew out of Teterboro today and is now in Miami. In the past two days this plane has been through Seattle, Vegas, Tuscaloosa?, Atlanta and Teterboro. It shared a very short amount of time in Vegas with a flight out of Norman.

I would love a combo of Rodriguez/Shannon or Stoops/Shannon should Kines bounce for Texas.

I enjoy your updates. Roll Tide.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:07 PM   This is just a thought...The school in TX where Witt used to be had no football program...Witt is trying to transform the university's image from a party school. The university is buying up property on the strip in T-Town that is mostly bars and not renewing the bar's leases. Rumor was Witt fired Price over Mal's objection....UA had a hard time finding Price. MM knew the next coach would be difficult to find. NOW TO MY POINT. Could Witt be trying to sabotage the football program so the University will focus more on academics???Could it be possible???
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:10 PM   I hope Whitt is calling all the shots. I'm sure he knows exactly how important this is to all of us who have supported our University financially for many years. President Whitt is an extremely inteligent man. His mind is working quite effectively to keep us all on the edge of our keyboards until our new coach is revealed. I'm feeling it is going to be worth the wait. I hope you are excited too.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:26 PM   are you serious about witt? he has no clue what to do. its ridiculous that he even tries to get involved
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:46 PM   Witt doesn't crap without permition from the BOT. PBJ is pulling the strings here and anyone that thinks Witt has the power to sabotage the football program has no clue of the inter workings of the UA. Check out how much money football brought in last year at the UA!
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:53 PM   49/24 in 6 years is a good record. Much better than 26/23 in 4 years. Now, a coach with a record of 60/14 or 71/4 would be even better!

I'm ready for this rollercoaster ride to end. The humiliation to end. End, for the players and all tide fans. I am a Tide fan, and will be like the old captain that went down with his ship. Yelling and screaming... Roll Tide Roll to the very last, but I will never accept mediocre or second fiddle to anyone in the SEC for my Crimson Tide!

Roll Tide Roll!
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 9:25 PM   cs and ragintide22 hit the nail on the head! If anyone ever thought about trying a "black opp" against the football program, they would have as much of a chance as flying pigs!

Roll Tide Roll!
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 9:33 PM   i just went to tidesports.com and didnt see anything on the matter of an acceptance.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 11:20 PM   Yes, I also find it refreshing to get rid of all the immature crying and cursing. It' so much more easier to slander someone when not being face to face with them.

Watching Tider Insider last night on the WVUA television station, they still have not ruled out Nick Saban. I would like to have Rodriquez but he does have some pretty strong ties to W.V.I mean some really STRONG ties. I just hope he doesn't get to T-town (if hired0 and feels he made a mistake.
Something I would like to throw out there that the University could do and it not cost $2-$3 mill on a coach. What about Mark Hudspeth at UNA? http://www.roarlions.com/
He has impressive credentials. You could start him out @ 1 mill. Then give him 100 grand for every SEC win 200 grand for a road win.Incentive. I just hope we don't end up giving a coach the state in money and then he flops....
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 7:02 AM   Let me throw this out there. Why is RR running his mouth so much. Rarely when a coach is under contract with another school does he blantly run his mouth about speaking to another school. He is under contract with WVU and takes his wife to a meeting with a unversity looking for a new HC and then he does an interview afterwards advising the media of their conversation and how long it lasted. It just seems to damn "warm and fuzzy" for him. It sure seems as if something else is going on with the search besides RR or maybe RR is playing Bama to get a raise.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 9:39 AM   I think he is wrangling for a sweeter deal at WVU and using all this publicity to get it.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 10:26 AM   I'm glad both of you outlawed anon's. I got tired of scrolling throught the garbage to read the good comments. I appreciate your efforts as well as MemphisTider. Keep up the good work!
