--- " The Miami situation seems to be a mess in that Saban has been constantly denying the Alabama rumors while the Crimson Tide has yet to replace the fired Mike Shula. It appears that the Alabama offer is going to be so lucrative to Saban that, according to sources, he will ask Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga to match it, essentially asking for a raise on what is now a 6-9 season, only Miami's second losing season since 1988. Saban currently earns $4 million a year with the Dolphins.
"I don't see Wayne being held hostage by Nick Saban and for all I know he could elect to seek tampering charges or some sort of compensation from the U. of Alabama if this happens," said a source familiar with Saban's situation.
Boy, wouldn't that be great?"
Now, depending on how Saban's contract is laid out, this could be a very interesting piece of news. I'm sure that Alabama had not thought about the possibility of being sued for going after a football coach, but Wayne seems to have a history of filing lawsuits. How much could a tampering case be worth, and could this possibly stop them from pursuing Saban?
The Capstone Report has posted links to reports from different media outlets. The Mobile Register is reporting that a formal offer could come as early as tonight, and the Miami Herald is reporting a contract for 7 years worth $40 million dollars.
From what I have heard (again, just rumors), the contract is 7 years, $27 million, with a $5 million dollar signing bonus, and a buyout of $5 million (so if he leaves, we at least get the signing bonus back). For those that don't want to get out the calculator, that's $3.86 million per year, making him the highest paid college coach in the country.
Today is going to be an interesting day, to say the least.

I guess Mr. Wayne Huizenga may have forgotten how he stalked Saban to lure him away from LSU.
Of course, I am sure Alabama would encourage Saban to abide by the terms of the contract, but that only means he may have to pay the Dophins the amount specified in the "Buyout Clause." Which amount will be factored into Alabama's offer to Saban.
Any fool can file a lawsuit, it is meaningless unless it has a significant probability of success.
Meanwhile the University of Alabama has a law school and Mr. Wayne Huizenga has no ligitimate cause to complain. # posted by Anonymous : 1:34 AM
