The plane is on the way to Austin, TX to pick up Gene Stallings so he can be available at the press conference. I see no reason to believe Stallings will be the next coach. I believe he just wanted to be here for the press conference.
Which, of course, leads me to believe that they will be announcing SOMEBODY today.
Mal made a statement earlier that Joe Kines is the interim coach at the moment, incase we don't have a coach by the bowl game.
I seriously doubt these guys are going to let it get this far out of control. I think they've got their man and they're going to announce it soon. I would probably expect the announcement of Shula's firing today and the announcement of the new hire later in the week. Maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

you idiots need to remember, bryant jr is a business man, and has many people working for him that use that plane. he has 3 or 4 huge businesses and some are nation wide, which is where he earns his money to donate to the university like he does, which is what gives him so much power, besides the fact of his last name. it is probably strictly a business flight not associated with football, or the university. and hell no mack brown is not coming here, are you blind, deaf or retarted for thinking that # posted by Anonymous : 10:59 AM

Steve Spurrier made a statement that he was staying at South Carolina. Herb Winches reported it. # posted by Anonymous : 11:19 AM
No coach today.
The fact is that when coaches are fired, a replacement is rarely ready to go.
Does NC State have one lined up? Does Arizona State?
Granted, Alabama is a huge step up from those schools, but if we were naming someone (especially a big name), we would have heard about it by now.
ESPN's article quotes Pat Forde as saying the school is "aiming big" or "aiming high" (can't remember which), but that no coach has been designated, or even interviewed. # posted by Anonymous : 11:27 AM
I'm listening & haven't heard Herb say that. # posted by Anonymous : 11:28 AM
Yes and beware because somebody in the Tidersports posted that the Miami Herald stated Saban had a big announcement but I looked and it says no such thing. Anonymous #2, that cracked me up, I was thinking when I read anon #1 that he shouldn't hold back, lol # posted by Anonymous : 11:34 AM

i apologize for that comment, it may have been offensive or too staright forward. i am very closely related to the situation, and am just tired of the rumors concerning that and those near me # posted by Anonymous : 11:38 AM
I heard OJ say that the real killer was coming to Alabama. :) There are so many rumors floating around now, it is ridiculous.
I heard someone say that Herb Winches reported spurrier syaing he was staying at SC. That is not true.
I am listening to JOX 690 and Doug Layton did say he thought it would be Spurrier. They are all speculating on Saban as well.

Hey thanks for the Jox live link! # posted by Anonymous : 11:58 AM
Actually, I can't get Jox to work. I created an account and everything, but now it's just sitting there saying "transferring data"
Any ideas? # posted by Anonymous : 12:03 PM
Saban will not happen. Dolphins are 5-6. Saban is making $5mil. per year. That's $5mil American Dollars, per year. The Dolphins last game is Dec. 31, only if they are not in the playoffs. Assuming he was a serious candidate, Saban is not about to quit before this date. Bama also could not announce anything until the Dolphins season was over. Bama is not about to wait this long for a new coach. # posted by Anonymous : 12:07 PM

You idiots are believing what Doug "Bammer" Layton and Herb "nose candy" Winches have to say???? Fact remains that Alabama is no longer a premier program in the country and nothing more than a second or third tier SEC school. Bama will be lucky to get Larry Coker. Get out of the fog that you people live in. The past is exactly that- past. This is 2006 and Alabama hasn't been a power in over 14 years. # posted by Anonymous : 12:11 PM
you are aware that Stallings is nowhere near Austin, aren't you? # posted by Anonymous : 12:46 PM
He's just posting what he's hearing. # posted by Anonymous : 12:54 PM
On the Longhorn boards the rumor is that Greg Davis (Horns OC) is interviewing for Bama job. # posted by Anonymous : 1:02 PM
Mike Ditka has been talking about coaching college football. I heard that he expressed interest in the job on a radio show this morning. # posted by Anonymous : 1:09 PM
There was also a flight that originated in Tuscalooser and terminated in Caracas, Venezuela via Houston.
It seems obvious that Hugo Chavez will be the new Bammer Coach. # posted by Anonymous : 3:31 PM
So its official? Red Dawn the Movie is now a reality?

Hey clown. Why don't you do us all some good and get rid of Mal Moore. What in the crap has he done? Five coaches in six years or something close to that. Let's get a new athletic director and let him find a new coach that can work with him. Mal needs to go, Now that you got rid of Shula go for Mal.
Incidentally your boy Spurrier is not coming so all that crap you were saying is just that. # posted by Anonymous : 6:35 PM
