Not saying much...
I'm not gonna say much. You know what's happening.

Spurrier is apparently in Tuscaloosa and met with Mal Moore earlier this evening.

Bama's selling their soul for this guy, and I think it may be a good thing.

I could put a bunch of links, like waka.com or whatever...but your best bet is to go read the forums at tidesports.com because there will be a shit ton of links to different news reports.

At the moment, there is no press conference scheduled for tomorrow. Of course, Sunday night, there was nothing scheduled for Monday either.

Don't say I didn't tell you before.

Comments: FLASH ****

Just got this off cockytalk.com, a USC site.

"I really really really really really really really HATE to even post this....but...

A good friend of mine told me that he spoke with his friend (yeah i know how this sounds) who works as a sports writer for a local newspaper here in SC and said that the latest offer that Bama has laid on the table for Spurrier is as follows;

1) Obviously he would become the highest paid college football coach in the nation
2) Upon retiring as football coach at Bama, he would become the school's AD
3) He could name the salary for his entire coaching staff

Now, I'm with everyone else, I really don't think hes going anywhere...but you have to admit, if this offer is even close to true, that has GOT to be the most appealing offer EVER in college football!"

Looks like there are some rumors flying in SC too!!!! Makes me feel alot more confident about the validity of this "rumor"

# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 12:30 AM   AD's don't do as much as you think they do.

i.e. Mal Moore

All he's done this year is flirted ith Spurrier.

# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 1:04 AM   Everyone knows a USC & UA plane went to Teterboro and returned back to TTown and Columbia.

But did anyone notice that shortly afterwards a plane left Teterboro and went to Birmingham?
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 1:24 AM   Why would we allow Spurrier to be the AD when we have a much more experienced former player in Ozzie Newsome who has already stated that he would like to have the job?
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 1:33 AM   Because we want to hit a "home run."

I still think he turns us down.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 1:37 AM   "I would not be surprised to learn that Ozzie Newsome is more involved in this coaching search...." Paul Finebaum, Nov. 2007.

Like him or not he knows something.
Scenerio: All this talk of a meeting may mean Ozzie and Mal has or will meet with OBC and assured him that Mal is out and Ozzie in as AD. Has anyone thought of checking where Ozzie has been this week?
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 5:28 AM   Also from cockytalk.com was a link to an article from the Mobile Press Register ttles "Tide Targets Spurrier". It was posted at 5:30 Thursday morning and you can see the article at:

# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 7:23 AM   Let it go guy's, SS is staying at usc. Can't blame him, good pay and no pressure...who would not want that kind of job. We need a good solid tough as nails coach that is hungry for success. SS would have made for a great movie plot, but it's time to move forward for the best interest of the program.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 7:36 AM   Hard let go when you have reports like the one mentioned above. That is a good source I think. Mobile register. At least we have some sort of reliablility now. So you may be eating those words.

I think it may already be a done deal. Think. There have been rumors of offers for 2 days now. I believe this has been done completely threw 3rd party communication and/or in clandestine meetings on the sly. This, I think, is a way to start breaking the "official" news that we will ask for permission, then offer, then hire. I think the deal is done and now we are going through the "Politically correct" motions to keep from stepping on toes!!

ANYONE AGREE WITH MY THEORY????

# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:15 AM   Yes think its done, He has to take care of it in a bussiness manner. Channel 8 out of Montgommery says flat out that a contract has been offered & that it had numerous confirmations on it & names some them.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:21 AM   Something strange is going on at www.waka.com the story about Spurrier being offered a contract has just been taken off the website within the past hour. It is also not listed in the news or sports section. Is it possible they are retracting the story??
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:27 AM   Hey SM, hope your right but I also hope that SS is just not playing us or MM on this. If this ends up being the "Tebow part: II" it will look very bad on MM and UofA.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:28 AM   I think Memphis said it all in his post, its clear that something is going down, to many reports, to much chatter from to many sources. We need a press conferance to get all the details.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 8:34 AM   none of this is true he has picked up three recruits for USC while all this rumor stuff has been going on...why would he still be recruiting for SC if he were going to bama...this is too funny
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 9:44 AM   Remember, anonymous “12” told you! Not going to say hard facts, credible sources, etc… just my theory, but I feel strongly about my theory. Rich Rodriguez will be the next head coach at the Univ. of Alabama.

Why it won’t be Spurrier. Where there is smoke there is fire. And there is PLENTY of Smoke about Spurrier NOT coming to Bama from what is decent sources. No REAL smoke about Spurrier coming to Bama from credible sources.

1) Spurrier stating he has no interest in the Bama job (don’t get me wrong, I think the guy that is hired will have made that same statement), but Spurrier is a guy of his word.
2) Spurrier’s brother stated he did not feel Spurrier will take the job.
3) Real sports writers (Tony Barnhart, etc) have said they feel there is no way Spurrier will take the job.
4) Bama can’t buy Spurrier because it seems he has plenty of money.
5) Finebaum said Tuesday you will know something in 2-3 days on Spurrier because he had spoken with Spurrier. A reporter said similar things yesterday on Finebaum’s show. Also, there is news that Spurrier is probably getting a contract renewal/amendment in the next few days.

Why I think it is Rodriguez

1) There is smoke that he has no interest, but he could not even look at the camera.
2) Sources say he would be interested
3) His team got beat by South Florida last week…was he distracted by Bama already talking to him?
4) WVa can’t compete with Bama’s MONEY!
5) Bama is saying no timeline to buy until next week, which is AFTER WVa plays Rutgers.

I hope I am wrong, nobody wants Spurrier more than me, but just trying to face reality.

I also would like Saban or Pertrino, but just don’t think there is enough ‘smoke’ around them about them coming.

# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 9:52 AM   Because he still works for South Carolina? Nothing has been signed yet, it's his job to continue recruiting.

It does disturb me that the waka story has disappeared though.
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 9:54 AM   what is the Teterboro ty-in? There is a plane from there @ Lakeland. Meeting the UA plane?
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 10:02 AM   oh ok alethia, yeah lets all just drop it becuase that evidence is sooo overwhelming
# posted by Anonymous Anonymous : 10:21 AM   First of all, the fact that he's still recruiting means nothing. The last thing he would want [if he in fact leaves USC] is for everyone at USC screaming that he screwed them by not recruiting, as well as leaving.

Secondly, the fact that USC is renegotiating his contract means they are worried. This is just business. Some other company comes in and offers more money, so your current employer tries to meet you halfway to make it worth staying.

Honestly, I think he stays. I know 300 people will respond calling me an idiot, but the fact that MM has hired a consultant points strongly to the fact that we tried to get the OBC and he wasn't ready to leave.

There are many coaches worse than Rodriguez or Petrino, Grobe, or even Johnson. We just fired one of them.
