...is reporting that the University is in fact searching for a new coach, but will retain Shula if a new coach is not found in adequate time.
Are you fucking kidding me?
I would love to know who they talked to on Thanksgiving to get that scoop considering everybody in Tuscaloosa is with family for the holiday.
Anyway, Spurrier's call in show the other night was pretty interesting. They asked him about Miami and Alabama and the possibility of him coaching at either of those schools. He said that reports were out about Miami contacting him and that just wasn't true. He said "those schools" have been to the top and they just weren't for him, etc etc.
Take a listen to the first 9 minutes of the show and see if Spurrier mentions the word "Alabama" even one time. Spurrier call in show audio. Interesting why he didn't squash that rumor right then and there.

How exactly is Spurrier saying "Alabama and Miami are good jobs, just not for me" constitute not squashing the rumor?
It's amazing how you guys only see and hear what you want to. # posted by Anonymous : 12:59 PM
haha. i love the fact that you don't like what I'm putting on this blog, and yet you still come check out the site.
He didn't say "Alabama and Miami are good jobs...etc"
He didn't say "Alabama" at all when specifically asked about it. What would you expect him to say in that situation? :-) # posted by Memphis Tider : 1:02 PM
I come back because it's a lot like an amusement park. It's a lot of fun to watch someone live in a fantasy world and create things that aren't there.
This will be my last post - If/when Shula is fired, Spurrier will not even be a remote candidate. It has ZERO chance of happening. # posted by Anonymous : 1:22 PM
Thanks for taking your name out of the hat, Mr. Spurrier. # posted by Anonymous : 2:04 PM

Didn't that man turn Bama in for some improprieties? What on Gods green Earth makes you think he'd want to coach there? I guess enough water has passed under that bridge, heh? # posted by Anonymous : 4:48 PM
The rumor* I've heard going around is Spurrier is interested as long as Brother Oliver will be his DC.
*not from any sort of credible source # posted by Anonymous : 7:55 PM
I hear that they are working on a 10 year deal and that Spurrier is in fact interested. He knows he has a better shot over the next 10 years to win a title at alabama than at SC. He doesn't want to be remembered by the last few pitiful years of his career at SC. That what make the hayday at florida all but forgotten # posted by Anonymous : 8:24 PM
The thing about the planes going to Arkansas on fireshulanow.blogspot.com is true. I heard it on the radio today here in Huntsville that Spurrier flew to Arkansas to go hunting with Bryant, Jr. # posted by Anonymous : 9:34 PM
south carolina....is better than bama # posted by Anonymous : 8:57 AM
This just in. I saw one of the trustees last night at dinner and Saban is our guy. Spurrier said no, Saban said yes. He's assembling his staff now. Shula's gone Monday. # posted by Anonymous : 9:38 AM

I'm not saying it's true, but that's what I was told last night by a trustee and Indian Hills Country Club here in T-town. # posted by Anonymous : 10:14 AM
My brother-in-law played for Bama on the 92 championship team. He's usually got an inside scoop on what's going on with the team, as he still has lots of contacts within the athletic dept. He says that the main issue with the team is discipline, and that just about the only way to remedy the problem is to bring in a new staff, starting from the top down.
He's met Shula, and says tht he is a really nice guy, but the fact is that he is probably TOO nice. Word is that they are considering a strong disciplinarian to bring the players back under control.
Time will tell! # posted by Anonymous : 11:38 AM
I heard the talk show. Yeah, he didn't mention ALbama alright, but he did mention and sounded extremely committed to South Carolina. It would be nice, but there's no way. # posted by Anonymous : 8:35 AM
