We're getting close to starting our countdown to the first football game. You know we're getting closer because the SEC meetings in Destin are starting up today.
I gotta tell ya...I'm really ready for football season. I cooked out yesterday, cleaned up the house, and managed to watch last season's Ole Miss game (that ended 24-20) and the Auburn game (36-0). Those really had me ready to watch this year's squad.
Tommy Hicks states the obvious in his latest article: everybody's waiting to see what happens with Kiffin at the SEC meetings.

The baseball team is returning to Clemson, SC - the site of Coach Wells' first regional with Alabama back in 1995. I picked up the new issue of Lindy's over the weekend. I'll be going to pick up the new Athlon today, along with anything else that may be out that I don't know about. I'm not sure why I pick up all of these magazines when just one of them would do fine. I guess I'm just that enthralled with all of it. Oh well.
Lane Kiffin is an idiot. And I hate Tennessee. Haha. They self-reported another rules violation to the NCAA. Read up on it here. They just can't keep from doing stupid stuff.

Alabama will open with South Carolina in the 2009 SEC Tournament. They've got the late game. Just like last year when they played Kentucky and the game lasted til almost 2am. I remember. I watched. Anyway, read up on it here.
Wow. How the little step brothers have fallen. Mississippi State's coach is talking shit? Read more here.
Comcast has agreed to terms with the NFL Network, ESPNU, and ESPN360.com. I can dig it. We all knew it would have to happen eventually, thanks to the SEC and ESPN agreeing to a new contract and ESPN taking over the Raycom games. Read more about it here.

Only 113 days left! We'll have our annual countdown probably beginning at 100 days. Still not sure what we'll be doing...but you can bet it'll be interesting, to say the least. We may break it up into sections this year.
Saban, in Montgomery the other night, mentioned that Prince Hall "will not be on the team" this season. He then went back and said he's off the team right now, that he's suspended. Another scholarship open? I believe so.
