Congrats, Coach Kines and Mr. Saunders. First defensive sack since the Duke game. Feels nice to get back there, ehh? :-)
This is just a damn good picture.
Behold, the 2nd coming of Jared Lorenzen.
Everyone was right. Javier did finally break one.
There aren't too many things to take away from this game. The defense did their part, of course. 1 forced fumble and 1 interception for a touchdown. Special teams came out and had a good game (1 punt return for a touchdown, and Leigh Tiffin even hit the last two extra points -- yes, one of them did go a little bit to the right). Everyone was scared shitless when John Parker Wilson went down, and I think the coaching staff are idiots for letting him go back into the game to start the 2nd half. Remember Brodie coming into the Georgia game back in 2003 when he was injured? Dumb move. The defensive line actually got a sack (props Keith Saunders), and the backup QB, Jimmy Barnes, the second coming of Jared Lorenzen, did have a little zip on his passes and looked comfortable once he had a few reps. He actually threw a red zone touchdown pass to Matt Caddell. Who woulda thunk it?
Bottom line, we looked alright, but still let those guys stay in the ballgame for WAY too long. We were down 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. They had a goal line stand against us in the 1st quarter. That, my friends, is why Shula didn't go for it on 4th and 1 last week at Tennessee...because we can't even line up and whip Florida International on 4th and 1.
Good win. Let's go get them BULLDOGS NEXT WEEK!!
